5 Tips to Loving Your Body Just As It Is

I was standing in the kitchen today and my mom said “Nelao, you have such a nice body!”. When someone compliments my body, my initial instinct is to immediately respond with whatever improvements I feel I need to make. I said “You think so?”. My mom said that she would love to have a body like mine. I went on to tell her that with commitment and a plan she can have a body she loves. Later on I thought about what my mom said. I then thought “Body, I’m sorry for putting down the way I do. In all honestly, you are pretty freakin amazing!”.

I notice this same habit with a lot of people. Its great to have goals you want to work toward but Its equally important to love, honor and appreciate your body exactly where it is.

Below are 5 ways you can love your body a little more each day:

  • Thank your body for all that it does. Honor it and respect it.

Remember that your skin replaces itself once a month. Your body has cells that fight to protect you against disease and infection. You grow eye lashes! Do you know that your eye lashes have a purpose? They’re there to deter stuff from going into your eyes! How dope is that? Ok, the nerd in me is getting carried away. My point is your body does some pretty cool things and you should honor and respect it!

  • Don’t let your current shape keep you from activities you enjoy

I have big boobs. There is nothing I can do to hide that. I wouldn’t want to go swimming because I though I would I would flood the pool as soon as I hopped in and the idea of all the stares I would get was enough to stop me from ever wanting to get in a pool. I didn’t want to workout because I couldn’t run and there was guaranteed to be cleavage no matter what I was wearing. I now refuse to let my big boobs keep me from enjoying the activities that I love. I love to workout and my big boobs are not going to stop me. Do you feel like you’re not in shape enough to run, or swim. Go do it anyway! The more you do it, the more comfortable you will become and soon it wont be a thought at all.

  • Create “I’m feeling myself” moments

Write a list of all the things you love about yourself. If you need help ask a friend or family member what they love about you. Put that list somewhere you can see it and read it out loud in the mirror every day. Feel on yourself (figuratively or literally, lol)

  • Eat when you’re hungry. Stop when you’re full.

Sometimes we complicate things in the pursuit of the perfect body. We go on crazy diets that promise us unbelievably fast results. The basics remain the same, eat when you’re hungry and stop when you’re full. Your body does all that other amazing stuff, trust it to know what it needs. Tune in and it will tell you.

  • Surround yourself with people that make you feel good.

I cant leave out how important it is to surround yourself with people who make you feel good about ‘YOU’. These are people who are positive and encourage you to be your best self. They support you in doing the things that bring you joy. They give you constructive criticism when you need it without tearing you down. These people are not always easy to find so when you do, hold on to them.

Being healthy means taking care of your mind, body and your spirit. We choose what we believe about ourselves and its important to feed ourselves healthy thoughts because these thoughts turn into our patterns. Patterns turn into beliefs and beliefs influence what we manifest into our reality. I suggest you take one or all of these tips and start implementing them into your day. See how amazing you start to feel.

Much love and light to you,
